What is Islam?

"Submission" or "surrender" to the will of Allah. This means that muslims in their daily life should strive for excellence under the banner of God's will.

There are the Five Pillars of Islam.

1) Testimony of Faith :

First pillar of Islam : Shahadah.

Testimony of Faith : Shahadah :

La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammadur rasoolu Allah.

"There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad (PBUH) is his messenger."

Ash'hadu al'laa ilaaha ill'Allaahu wa ash'hadu Anna Muhammadan abduhoo wa rasooluhoo.

Bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, the One alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger

How is Shahada recited?

It must be recited with aloud, correctly and full understanding of its meaning and with an assent of the heart.

Once a person says the shahada with conviction and understanding its meaning, then he/she has become a Muslim.

2) Prayer :

Second pillar of Islam : Prayer.

Performing ritual prayers in the proper way five times each day.

Salah is made obligatory upon all the Muslims five times a day with strict timing in the mosque.

…Indeed, performing prayers is a duty on the believers at the appointed times. (Quran 4:103)

Narrated Jabir: that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Between disbelief and faith is abandoning the Salat." [Reference : Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2618]

Indeed successful are those believers. who are humble in their Salah (prayers), who avoid vain talk, (Quran 23 : 1 - 3)

The Messenger (peace be upon him) told us in an authentic hadith , “The first thing the people will be accountable for on the Day of Judgment is prayer, Allah will say to His angels (even though he already knows): “Look at my servants prayers, were they complete or not?” If they were complete, it will be written as complete. If they were not fully complete Allah will say: “See if my servant has voluntary prayers, if he has them Allah will say: Complete his obligatory prayers shortage with his voluntary prayers.” Then the rest of his deeds will be dealt with in the same manner.” (Reported by Imams Ahmad, Abu Dawood, An-Nisa'i, and Al-Hakim)

And those who strictly guard their (five compulsory congregational) Salawât (prayers) (at their fixed stated hours). These are indeed the inheritors. Who shall inherit the Firdaus (Paradise). They shall dwell therein forever. (Quran 23 : 9 - 11)

Surely, I AM ALLAH. There is no god but Myself, so worship Me, and establish Salah for My remembrance. (Quran 20 : 14)

The right method of performing salah (prayer) according to quran and sunnah.

Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) Said "Pray as you have seen me praying.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol.1 Hadith No.604)

Every muslim should strive to make his prayer like the prayer of the Prophet (PBUH). There is only one common method of offering salaah (for men and women)

Benefits of salah.

1102. 'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said; "The two Rak'ah before the dawn (Fajr) prayer is better than this world and all it contains." [Muslim]

The Prophet (peace be upon him): "If a person had a stream outside his door and he bathed in it five times a day, do you think he would have any filth left on him?" The people said, 'No filth would remain on him whatsoever.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) then said, "That is like the five daily prayers: Allah wipes away the sins by them." (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

1030. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Shall I not tell you something by which Allah effaces the sins and elevates ranks (in Jannah)?" The Companions said; "Certainly, O Messenger of Allah." He (PBUH) said, "Performing the Wudu' thoroughly in spite of difficult circumstances, walking with more paces to the mosque, and waiting for the next As-Salat (the prayer) after observing Salat; and that is Ar-Ribat, and that is Ar-Ribat." [Muslim].

The Messenger (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Allah will prepare for him who goes to the Masjid in the morning and in the afternoon (for the congregation prayer) an honorable place in Paradise with good hospitality.” [Agreed Upon]

Loss to missed the salah

Narrated Ibn `Umar: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Whoever misses the `Asr prayer (intentionally) then it is as if he lost his family and property." (Sahih Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 10, Number 527)

what did enter you in hell? They say: we were not the performers of mandatory prayers, (Quran 74 : 42 - 43)

Achieving khushu’ (concentration and humility) in our prayer

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle entered the mosque and a person followed him. The man prayed and went to the Prophet and greeted him. The Prophet returned the greeting and said to him, Go back and pray, for you have not prayed. The man went back prayed in the same way as before, returned and greeted the Prophet who said, Go back and pray, for you have not prayed. This happened thrice. The man said, By Him Who sent you with the Truth, I cannot offer the prayer in a better way than this. Please, teach me how to pray. The Prophet said, When you stand for Prayer say Takbir and then recite from the Holy Qur'an (of what you know by heart) and then bow till you feel at ease. Then raise your head and stand up straight, then prostrate till you feel at ease during your prostration, then sit with calmness till you feel at ease (do not hurry) and do the same in all your prayers. (Sahih bukhari hadith no. 757)

Woe to those performers of salah , who are neglectful of their salah.

So, Woe to those performers of Salah , Who are neglectful of their Salah, Who (do good only to) show off, (Quran 107 : 4-6)

Indeed, the hypocrites [think to] deceive Allah , but He is deceiving them. And when they stand for prayer, they stand lazily, showing [themselves to] the people and not remembering Allah except a little, (Quran 4:142)

Allah ke nek bande Kaleemulla said : Six matters that are linked to the prayer have been indicated as marks of hypocrisy. [weak Imaan]

1. Delaying the prayer.

2. Laziness when one stands up to pray.

3. Praying in an extremely hasty manner.

4. Barely remembering Allah during the prayer.

5. Intending to show off .

6. Abandoning the congregational prayer.

Give such hypocrites the news that a painful punishment awaits them. [Quran 4:138]

Allah give us Taufeeq to offer prayer extremely well manner.    Ameen summa ameen.

On the authority of An-Nu`man ibn Murrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “… the worst of thieves is the one who steals his prayer.” They said, “How does he steal his prayer, Messenger of Allah?” He replied, “He does not do ruku` (bowing) or sujud (prostration) properly.” (Malik)

Shirk in prayer : show off.

The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The thing that I fear most for you is minor shirk.” They said: “O Messenger of Allaah, what is minor shirk?” He said: “Showing off,...". ( Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 951 )

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said; Anyone who offers salat , for show, indeed he has committed shirk; and anyone who fasts for show, indeed he has committed shirk; and anyone who gives sadaqah, for show, indeed he has committed shirk, (hadith musnad ahmad)

Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam entered upon us while we were discussing the False Messiah. He said, “Shall I not tell you about what I fear for you more than the presence of the False Messiah?” We said, “Of course!” He said, “Hidden idolatry; that a man stands for prayer and beautifies his prayer because he sees another man looking at him.” (Ibn Majah Hadith 4202)

Surely Allah will never forgive the one who commits the sin of shirk... (Quran 4 : 116)

In the hadeeth it is narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever dies claiming that Allaah has a rival, will enter Hell.”(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4497; Muslim, 92)

Narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh (135) from Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: A man came to the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, what are the two deeds that make entering Paradise or Hell inevitable? The Prophet said: “Whoever dies not associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise, and whoever dies associating anything with Allah will enter Hell.”

...We shall not join (in worship) any (gods) with our Lord. `And exalted is the Majesty of our Lord:... (Quran 72 : 2 - 3)

...If I disobey my Lord, I fear the punishment of an awful Day. (Quran 10:15)

Fast for a specified number of days, but if any one among you is ill or on a journey, let him fast the same number of days later. For those who can fast only with extreme difficulty, there is a way to compensatethe feeding of a needy person. But he who does good of his own accord shall be well rewarded; but to fast is better for you, if you only knew. (Quran 2:184)

Special gate in Paradise for those who fast.

Sahl ibn Sa’d reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, there is a gate in Paradise called al-Rayyan, through which only those who fasted will enter on the Day of Resurrection. No one else will enter it along with them. It will be said: Where are those who fasted that they may enter? When the last of them enter, it will be closed and no one else will go through it.” [Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 1797, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1152]
